Sri Krishna is Lord Vishnu’s eighth avatar (incarnation) on earth. He is considered to be the Lord’s most glorious incarnations. The sole objective of Sri Krishna's birth was to free the Earth from the evilness of demons.
Many homes have beautiful kolams adorning their homes. In South India, people draw little feet of Krishna in the floors with wet rice flour and its a sign of welcoming Lord Krishna to home. The footsteps of Sri Krishna are drawn from the entrance of the house to the puja room.

At home, people celebrate this festival by offering Lord Krishna's favorite sweets and snacks. We keep fruits, butter, milk, curd, aval with jaggery along with murukku and seedai for neivedhyam. Aval/poha is Lord Krishna's most favorite. People also keep aval payasam and aval ladoo for neivedhyam.
